Backup Plan and BCD

As a Vanda user and valuable customer, we provide you with an option of backup which is part of business continuity plan. Please take a look at the proposed network diagram.

There are 3 backup which stores the Vanda database.

First Backup, the server at client office will serve as first backup. We will partition the hard disk space into 2, Drive C and D. The Vanda application will be stored at Drive C, and a backup copy of database will be stored at Drive D.

Second Backup, there is an external backup device attached to the server. The backup device will be used to backup the Vanda database daily.

Third Backup, the server hosted at Alatum will be served as slave backup. When the PC server fails to function, users would able to access the Alatum server without fail. Any transaction created at automatically backup to Alatum server.

We will implement the following schedule for the backup plan.

Incremental and Differential Backup Techniques and Approaches
Day of Week Weekly Full Backup with Daily Differential Backup Weekly Full Backup with Daily Incremental Backup
Sunday  A full backup is performed.  A full backup is performed.
Monday A differential backup contains all changes since Sunday. An incremental backup contains changes since Sunday.
Tuesday A differential backup contains all changes since Sunday. An incremental backup contains changes since Monday.
Wednesday A differential backup contains all changes since Sunday.  An incremental backup contains changes since Tuesday.
Thursday A differential backup contains all changes since Sunday. An incremental backup contains changes since Wednesday.
Friday A differential backup contains all changes since Sunday. An incremental backup contains changes since Thursday.
Saturday  A differential backup contains all changes since Sunday.  An incremental backup contains changes since Friday.

The percentage of 1 server fail is 50%, for second backup device to fail is 25%.

The percentage of servers fail, second backup device and one of third backup device to fail is 12.5%

The percentage of all backup devices to fail is 0 %.

With these approaches, the risk is almost 0 %. The clinic database is 99.9 % secure at any times and any scenario.
