The Principle of Pulse Oximetry
The HemOxi Care Pulse Oximeter is designed to measure the percentage of functional oxygenated hemoglobin to total hemoglobin. Non-invasive arterial oxygen saturation measurement is obtained by directing red and infrared light through a pulsating vascular bed. The pulsating arterioles in the path of the light beam cause a change in the amount of light detected by a photodiode. The pulse oximeter determines the oxygen saturation of arterial blood by measuring the ratio of transmitted red to infraredlight within the pulse waveform.
The HemOxi Care Pulse Oximeter is indicated to noninvasive monitoring of functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) and pulse rate measured by a SpO2 sensor. It can be used as a spot check device at home, clinic or hospitals environment. Additionally, it may be used to collect long term data in overnight sleep screening studies at home. The oximeter will provide reliable measurements on adult patients for spot checking applications.
The device is not intended for continuous patient monitoring, but can be used for spot checking and/or long-term data collection applications. There are no audible or visible patient alarms.
